First of all, we want to say that this website is dedicated to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we humbly ask Him to bless this site and allow it to be a blessing to others. We would like to welcome everyone to our Red Dirt World and pray
that you will find excitement, inspiration and encouragement in the news, poems, articles, photography and events.
Most importantly of all, if you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, we hope you make Him Lord and Savior of your life. (John 3:16)
Now why the name Red Dirt World? Well, that’s a simple one – Georgia has always been known for its "famous red clay" and we live in a world with a lot of pine trees and a lot of red dirt.
Red Dirt World is about more than dirt, though. It’s about the Southern culture - a culture that believes in God and the Bible, a culture who provides for the family and helps the neighbor. Living in a Red Dirt World reminds people that freedom isn’t free. This person realizes the importance of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the right to bear arms and, most important of all, the right to worship God.
Here, in our Red Dirt World, we want to emphasize the subject of what is really important in life – God, the family and others. The Golden Rule applies when you live in a Red Dirt World. Believing in Jesus Christ brings peace and hope, because Jesus is our only Salvation. Even when life is hard, you exercise the gift of faith. You don’t give up and you don’t stop trying. We were both born and raised in a Red Dirt World and would like to tell you a little about ourselves.
Norma Beaird
Norma Beaird is originally from Augusta, Georgia (Home of the Masters Golf Tournament). She is a graduate of Augusta Technical College where she studied in Business Education. In addition, she is a graduate of Augusta State University with an Associate Degree in Applied Science. While living in Augusta, she owned and operated The Wright Travel Group, a group travel business. Norma planned and escorted tours that sent clients on excursions to events such as Bill Gaither Concerts, Promise Keeper Conventions, Middle School Trips and Church Tours. Group travel was her specialty and she enjoyed working with people of all ages. She negotiated with motor coach companies, hotels and restaurants and escorted the majority of her tours. During off-seasons, she worked with various travel agencies in the Augusta area and arranged trips and tours for their clientele.
In 2000, Norma moved to Florida and while in Jacksonville, she started The Freedom Page website in honor of the U. S. Military. She received e-mails from around the world from soldiers who would read her patriotic poems and put them in their barracks or in military publications, to include a Defense Department periodical. People and organizations from all over the world have requested to use her Christian and Patriotic material in various publications, newsletters and on websites. While in Florida, Norma also had eight poems published in "Branches of Poetry", an anthology published by a North Georgia newspaper. After six years in Florida and much prayer, she made the decision to relocate to South Georgia to be near her family. It was during employment with a Southern Baptist college where she met her husband, Curtis Beaird.
Curtis Beaird
Curtis is originally from Big Spring, Texas, the home of Western Swing cowboy Bob Wills. Curtis holds three degrees from Texas educational institutions. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He pastored Southern Baptist churches for twenty years in Louisiana and Texas. While he was pastoring in Texas and after he went to the Southern Baptist university system, he served on the Editorial Board of Contributors for the Waco Herald-Tribune for fifteen years.
In 1988, he authored "Discovering Joshua", a book published by Guidepost in a series that sold a million copies. He also wrote for various religious publications to include Currents in Theology and Missions, Church Administration Magazine and The Student.
For fifteen years, he served as Vice-President at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. He served as Vice-President for External Affairs and then served as Vice-President for Administrative and Academic Affairs. During his tenure at the university, he served as a lobbyist for five years in the Texas State House on behalf of school issues. He has been a member of the National Association of Fund Raising Executives and the Texas Development Officers Association.
From Texas to Georgia, Curtis relocated to work at the Southern Baptist college where he met Norma. After marrying Norma in April 2006, he pastored Ailey Baptist Church in Ailey, Georgia for a year.
In their spare time, Curtis and Norma enjoy going to car races and hot rod shows. A member of the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) and the NSRA (National Steet Rod Association), Curtis has always been a huge drag-racing and hot rod fan. He owns a 1930 Model A Hot Rod Ford. The 5-window coupe is a favorite in local parades and won 2nd place in the 2007 Vidalia Onion Festival Car Show. While living in Texas, Curtis wrote for and was a photographer for Show Stopper, the magazine for the ISCA (International Show Car Association).
In 2006, Curtis and Norma, with the help of friend Jerry Richardson, produced a CD entitled, "Because of You, I'm Free". This CD is an expression of gratitude to every soldier and veteran who has served this country. The title poem, has enjoyed air time on various Georgia radio stations. This CD was originally promoted on The Freedom Page, a website that Norma had for over three years in support of the U. S. Troops.

God Answers Prayer
Curtis and Norma give all praise to God for what he has done in their lives. In 2004, Curtis was diagnosed with prostate cancer and endured eighteen months of treatment, to include radiation. However, he was blessed to have a wonderful physician who gave excellent care and whose treatment worked and is still working today. Because of the Lord (The Great Physician) and Dr. Pablo Santamaria (his earthly physician), Curtis has been blessed with extremely low PSA scores to overcome his battle with cancer. He talks to men constantly about the importance of having regular check-ups and prostate exams after 50 years of age. Even when a physician has given wonderful treatment, we still give all glory to God because it is God who has given the physician the wisdom to deliver the proper treatment.
In March 2008, Curtis suffered a heart attack at home and Norma rushed him to the Meadows Regional Hospital in Vidalia. The next day, he was rushed to St. Joseph’s Candler in Savannah for a heart catherization, an angioplasty and a stent. He had a 90% blockage in the main artery to his heart. But again, thanks be to God, the prayers of many people and a good doctor, Dr. Joseph Giles, Curtis is doing wonderful and is getting better every day. Jesus is truly The Great Physician.
Two weeks after the Red Dirt World Hot Rod Party & Cruise-In in August 2008, Curtis had to have emergency surgery on a completely detached retina. His opthamologists in Dublin were concerned that he would lose the vision in his right eye before he could have surgery. However, we rushed him to Macon, and his surgeon, Dr. Steven Allee, performed the surgery and his eye has healed miraculously. Dr. John Williams in Dublin said that his recovery was a miracle and that the Lord had healed his eye. Thanks be to Almighty God and very skilled doctors, Curtis recovered from a detached retina. Again, God was in control and answered prayer. Jesus never fails and He is always the Answer to life's problems. God has brought Curtis and Norma through some storms and He’ll bring you through your storm. To God Be the Glory.
